Special Olympics Thailand organizes its National Games for athletes nationwide every 2 years. The event provides the athletes and their supporters, coaches and parents, from provinces representing their schools, to participate in the largest Special Olympics event in the country, show-casing their talents, skills and determination, challenging each other’s abilities.
In addition to offering special athletes the opportunity to compete at the national level, the Games will also be Thailand’s Selection Trials for the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games.
During the Games, athletes will be offered Health Screenings by medical volunteers (Opening Eyes, Fun Fitness, Special Smiles and Medfest) during the Special Olympics Asia Pacific and Thailand Healthy Athletes Train-the-Trainer Event.
550 athletes from 51 special schools and centres nationwide will participate in these games involving 350 volunteers from many organizations.
